February meeting minutes

BRASSGEARS ADVENTURERS SOCIETY

February 17, 2025 Minutes

Present: Mitch, Mary, Brad, Marcie, Molly, Kelsey, Jamila, Darlene, Erin

III. Minutes from January were read and approved

IV. Recent events: We held a Zoom bake-along on February 2. Susan demonstrated making that

tea-time staple - scones, and two attendees baked along in their own kitchen, and several

others watched the process.

The Ukelele event scheduled for February 15th was postponed due to the weather. It will be

rescheduled for a later date.

V. Upcoming events: Demicon is coming up in May. We discussed the room party, and will come up

with a theme. The Demicon theme this year will be FAN-tasy. The radio show is tentatively

planned for the usual Sunday time slot. We discussed having a BAS panel on interacting with

your fandom across various media. We will plan to do a steampunk participatory panel on how

to write a radio show, using improv, including commercials, etc. We could then present the

short production on Sunday, along with our previously planned Sherlock Holmes parody.

Kelsey, along with other BAS members, will also be presenting panels and having other

involvement with the con.

We have a proposed road trip to St. Louis this summer. Brad and Erin visited several interesting

places there recently, and will work out a plan for this event.

Jamila shared an event at the Des Moines Art Center on February 21st

in conjunction with the

Time Travelers exhibit currently there.
