Tea Time Treats

Scones

1 1/2 cups flour

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 cup butter

1/3 cup dried cranberries or raisins

1 egg, slightly beaten

2 tablespoons milk

Extra flour

Sugar for topping

Tools

Pastry blender or two knives

Baking sheet

Sifter or whisk

Mixing bowl

Spoon

Round cutter or glass

Preheat oven to 425° F.

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Use a whisk to combine. Cut in the butter until the texture of course meal. Add craisins. Add egg and milk. Combine well. Knead it into a soft dough. Place on a floured board and pat out to 1/2 “. Cut rounds and place on baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Remove to wire rack.

These are best served fresh and warm with clotted cream and jam.
